Privacy Policy
Effective November 1, 2026
Float doesn't collect any personal data. There are no accounts, no analytics, no ads and no tracking.
Your tasks are stored only on your Mac, inside the app's own private folder. They never leave your computer, and nobody else can see them.
Float asks for Input Monitoring permission only so you can open it by double-tapping the Control key. It listens for that shortcut and nothing else. Keystrokes are never recorded, stored or sent anywhere. You can turn this off at any time in System Settings and open Float with Control-Option-F instead.
If a future version adds iCloud sync, your tasks will be stored in your own private iCloud account, which we can't access.
To delete your data, delete your tasks in Float or remove the app. Nothing is kept anywhere else.

Quick answers, and how to reach me.
- How do I open Float?
- Double-tap ⌃ Control, or press ⌃⌥F. You can also click the Float icon in the menu bar.
- Double-tapping Control doesn't do anything.
- Open System Settings › Privacy & Security › Input Monitoring, switch Float on, then quit and reopen Float. Control-Option-F works without this permission.
- How do I write a task?
- Type it in the box at the bottom. Add a day or time (fri 2pm), ! for priority, #project to file it elsewhere, next or now as the last word, or > for a subtask. Type ? in the box to see every option.
- What do the sections mean?
- Everything starts in Not started. Move a task to Up next when it's next, start it when you're on it, and keep one task at hand. Done tasks settle into Done today.
- Where are my tasks stored?
- Only on your Mac.
- Something else?
- Email drewvalek@gmail.com and I'll get back to you.
